RELEASE SELF SNUFFING
WEEK 25 - PORTAL: THE ADAPTATIONS
Release Self-Snuffing
“Do not let your light be dimmed by the fog of self-doubt or the shadow of comparison. Your glow is needed.”
-Voge Smith
Hello Fellow Travelers
The card for this week is Release Self Snuffing
Before you start listening/reading…take a moment to take in the image. This card depicts the woman snuffing out a lit candle… symbolizing the ways we diminish our own light to make others comfortable. Notice.. as you take in the image of this woman in the actual act of snuffing out her light …what happens in your body?. Does it feel familiar? This card helps you to remember you were not born to hide, silence or appease.
For the next 7 days, use this card as a way to recognize when those words you didn’t say get caught in your throat When you say yes and your heart is screaming no. Feel how quickly you can slide into the that adaptation to self snuff. What action do you need to take to recalibrate?
🌬️ Invitation
There are moments we learn … often in quiet, painful ways that our brightness makes others uncomfortable.
So we shrink.
Diminish.
Edit ourselves in hopes of belonging.
But this Releasing is a reclamation.
A return to the truth that your light was never too much —
only too radiant for those not ready to see.
To snuff yourself out is to deny the world the exact medicine you carry.
To dim your brilliance is to starve the spaces that need your warmth.
This card arrives as both a gentle whisper and a fierce invitation:
Stop apologizing for being incandescent.
You do not have to shrink in order to shine.
❤️🩹Adaptation
Self-snuffing is a survival strategy born from ancient social wiring:
“If I shine too brightly, I might be envied, excluded, targeted, or left behind.”
For many, this learned dimming began early —
in classrooms where excelling invited mockery,
in families where confidence was mistaken for arrogance,
in relationships where being too “big” threatened someone else’s comfort.
So you made yourself smaller.
You downplayed your gifts.
You became fluent in invisibility —
not because your light lacked power,
but because your nervous system associated brightness with danger.
This adaptation may have once kept you safe,
but now it keeps you hidden.
And it’s time to return to the sacred truth:
Your light is not a threat.
It is a blessing.
Your radiance does not take from others — it ignites them.
The world doesn’t need less of you.
It needs all of you.
🔍Inquiry Questions
For a deeper inquiry use these questions to reflect, for your journal and contemplation to better understand your relationship tot his Adaptation:
• When did I first learn to dim my light?
• Who benefits when I shrink myself? Who suffers?
• What would it feel like to fully inhabit my glow without fear of judgment or rejection?
🔻Releasing Statements
• I release the belief that my light is a liability.
• I release the unconscious patterns that taught me to self-snuff in order to stay safe.
• I release the fear of being seen, envied, or misunderstood.
🔺Receiving Statements
• I receive the power to shine without apology.
• I receive the safety and joy of full visibility.
• I receive the birthright to take up space and be celebrated for who I truly am.
🌬️ Closing Whisper
Inhale worthiness… Exhale dimming.
Inhale courage… Exhale smallness.
Inhale radiance… Exhale fear of your own light.
Now place one hand on your heart and one on your solar plexus.
Feel the warmth that’s always been there —
glowing quietly beneath the ash of old adaptations.
Let your breath fan that ember.
Let it rise.
Let it glow.
You were never too much.
You were always medicine.
